Hard craft
It’s a tough job – she sources stories and images for the magazine, writes all the copy, and also manages the web site.
But it’s a labour of love for Charlotte, who told us:  “I love magazines and I love crafts so it’s perfect”.
CrossStitcher is the most successful crafts title on Future Publishing’s books, with a readership of more than 20,000.

Joining the JET set

Joining the JET set
LSJ graduate Daniel James Bentham [2009] is aiming to join the 2010 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) programme as an assistant language teacher.

JET, a scheme set up by the Japanese Government to improve foreign language teaching in schools and promote international understanding, is in its 22nd year of graduate exchange and will be accepting applications for next year’s positions between October and November.
If he gets onto the programme, Daniel will be fulfilling a life-long dream of living and working in Japan.

LSj graduate Sadie Geoghegan [2008] has joined travel company Thomas Cook’s e-commerce department as a Content and Editorial Executive.

She got the job after getting involved in a work experience project set up by another LSJ graduate, Katie Bond, now Content and Editorial Manager at Thomas Cook.
Katie visited the LSJ last year to run the project for students who wanted to work as travel writers. Sadie joined in, worked hard, and it paid off.

LSJ graduate [2009] Dane Vincent has signed for Notts County – though he’ll be working on the web rather than on the pitch.
He starts tomorrow as the club’s media manager.
Dane’s job will be producing content for the web site, and dealing with press enquiries.

Next…

  • Michael starts a Masters in Producing for Film and TV at Royal Holloway on September 24th.
  • He’s  co-writing, producing and directing a short called “Split Ends”, based on a stage play that went to the Edinburgh Festival. Pre-production has already started, and the aim is to shoot the film before Christmas.
  • Michael is also in early discussions with an established American producer about developing a script he wrote into a US TV pilot.
